Life Skills and Values in Riding Lessons
Problem Solving
Lisa’s riding lesson program is designed to cultivate essential life skills that reach beyond the riding arena, and throughout, riders gain valuable life lessons. Her unique coaching approach emphasizes accountability, compassion, commitment, and effective communication. Riders learn to respect themselves, others, and the horses, fostering self-awareness and situational decision-making. Each lesson also supports the development of problem-solving abilities and maintains a strong focus on safety—not only in horsemanship, but as a guiding principle in everyday life.
Community and Teamwork
Lisa believes lessons learned in the barn extend far beyond horsemanship and horse care, providing a foundation for values often missing in today’s society. These experiences often translate into valuable life lessons that benefit students in and out of the barn. Her program encourages teamwork and fosters barn cohesion, bringing together friends from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for horses. The environment she creates allows riders to bond, collaborate, and support one another, helping each feel valued and included.
Lesson Structure and Experience
Success is a natural outcome in Lisa’s program, thanks to her highly trained horses and proven coaching methods. Riders gain confidence and competence as they learn on skilled horses. By nurturing life skills and values, Lisa’s lessons prepare individuals to excel both in the saddle and in their personal lives, making a positive impact on the broader community. In addition, riders acquire valuable life lessons through her holistic approach.
All lessons are 1 hour long and include one-on-one instruction. During each session, students learn safe handling, grooming, and saddling techniques, along with riding instruction tailored to their experience and goals. Every student learns safety through awareness and control, and instruction includes the “why” behind each lesson to help riders understand and communicate with their mounts. Laughter and smiles are abundant in the barn, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all. Ultimately, these moments contribute to valuable life lessons every rider carries forward.
